Wow. Just wow. The most visible baseball analyst on the biggest sports network in the world and he can actually get away with saying "and this OPS stuff they do" ...is overrated.
And you know that "this OPS stuff they do" is just Joe's shorthand for any kind of analysis more complicated than "wins are good, losses are bad!"

He's an idiot. Saves and Win/Losses are the most overrated stats. Saves moreso b/c if guys like Wickman and Jones can get a lot.
Batting stats depend on the type of hitter. I think BA is important for the bottom of the order (hits bring in runs) while OBP is important for the top of the order (have to get on base to score runs).

How am I an idiot? Because I don't think Willie Randolph is a brilliant tactician of a manager?

They are. Wins/Losses are a matter of luck.
Does a guy who goes 7 innings and gives up 1 run deserves a loss b/c the other pitcher pitched a shut out? Does a guy who gave up 10 runs over 6 innings deserves a win b/c the other guy gave up 12 over 7 innings?

Wins are pointless. Randy Johnson must of won 15+ games last year with a 5.00 ERA.

I hate the people that say that a team should dump a pitcher because he isn't finding ways to win. Just makes no sense looking at their record.
And I kind of like Joe Morgan. But I disagree about his pointless stats completely.
