I think this was a horrible decision. Kobe unintentionally caught Manu Ginobili with an elbow. You gotta remember, it was the end of the game when this play happened. Bryant was trying to draw contact to get to the line to try to win the game. Also, there is no way Bryant would purposely do that, because if he gets a flagrant foul called on him, the Lakers lose the game, because the Spurs get foul shot’s. I think this is just David Stern trying to crack down and prove a point. Bryant is supposed 2 miss the game 2night against the Knicks, where he loves to play. The player’s association spokesman Dan Wasserman said a letter was sent on Bryant's behalf to the league office requesting the hearing, and that Bryant volunteered to review the videotape and talk to Commissioner David Stern or the "appropriate league official." Kobe has yet to play the Knicks this year, but has been good career-wise in NY.

I think that the decision on suspending Kobe was awful, how many suspensions would there be if every player that elbows someone gets suspended. I think that David Stern was wrong when he made this suspension, its also most likley cause hes Kobe, if someone else would have elbowed Manu Ginobli we wouldnt even hear about it.

its just like hockey, you unintentionally hit someone in the face with a stick its still a penalty, keep control of your elbows, its not his fault his head was there, you have to be aware of what you do before you do it, i think a fine would have been better then a suspension if they thought it was flagrant, kobe and go without money, can the lakers go without kobe?

This is one of the most ridiculous suspensions I have ever seen. So let me get this straight...Kevin Garnett throws a punch in a game and gets suspended and Kobe flails his arms, accidently hits Manu, and it warrents the same punishment? Again, this is an example of why Kobe will never win MVP. And this isn't a "Poor Kobe" thread because he isn't an angel. But come on. Is Stu serious? I mean seriously. This is not an offense that is cause for suspension.

I don't watch basketball at all so I will try my best. I think it is a bad decision to suspend him. If it's accident, there is no intent to harm the player. Kobe has no control over Ginboli. If he was in his way, then that's his own fault. If anything, it should have just been a regular foul. A suspension is not a fitting punishment for an accident.

I think the signings of Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa are completely opposite. I think the signing of Barry Bonds was a horrible one and Sammy Sosa was a great one. Barry Bond’s deal was a 1 year deal worth 15.8 mil with incentives that can get him up to 20 mil. I think this is a horrible deal because nobody and I mean NOBODY was offering anything for Bonds. I know Bonds said that he would rather retire than play for very little money, but that’s bull. Bond’s wants the money but, he wants the record more. He would play for a lower salary to get the record. The Giants could have got Bonds for 8 mil with incentives for 12 or something like that. On the other hand, I think the Sosa signing was a great one. Not many people like Sosa, but the rangers signed him to a minor league contract worth $500,000 with incentives that can get him up to 2.2 mil for plate appearances. This is a great signing, because, how can this hurt? Sosa will play a little bit in the minors and if he does well he can get another shot at performing in the majors. It’s the perfect example of a low cost- low risk deal.

The signing by the Rangers of signing Sosa to a minor league deal was prolly one of the best signings this offseason. Sosa hit a career 588 homeruns, and a batting average of .274, so your saying a .274 avg, 588 home runs, and 1,575 rbi for his career worth a minor league deal? I know he has been accused of steroids and usuing cork, but how are those numbers worth a minor league deal? If Ted Lilly gets 11 mil per year all beit different posistions this is a win-win risk for Texas.
Giants signing of Bonds was very foolish and dumb, 15 million could have gotten you a lot than Bonds. Bonds has to take every other day off becuase of his knee. 15 million could have gotten you Carpenter, Texeria, Howard, Granderson, Sizemore, all players like that. Bonds is injured, washed up, old and cant even play more than 1 day without being tired, and on top of that he is a jerk. At least the Sosa signing was a minor league deal.
