I was discussing a Santana trade on another board. Some Yankee fans were talking about putting Wang in the deal, some were opposed to it.
I had a thought of a trade. Here's how it'd go down:
Mets get: Chien Ming Wang Melky Cabrera
Yankees get: Lastings Milledge Aaron Heilman Philip Humber
Personally, the sight of all of those guys on the other side of town makes me want to vomit this very moment (except Heilman).
Milledge has a lot of power potential and the Yankees lineup is very left-handed heavy. A manager like Girardi might be good for him as well. Heilman helps them in the bullpen (he's better than Farnsworth). Humber gives them some more pitching depth.
Wang is no ace but is young and experience. He'll give you innings and would fair better in the NL and pitchers park. I also think he would do a lot better with Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Luis Castillo, and David Wright behind him (in terms of defense). I would take Melky to play RF. He has a very good arm, he gets lost but his instincts will develop. Plus I think having some good switch hitters (Beltran, Reyes, Castillo) could help him.
As I said, this idea nauseates me. If Wang/Melky or Milledge/Heilman/Humber were on different teams, I would think about it.I'm posting it here so both fans will read it. Let me know what you

Let's say Wang is the best pitcher available via trade.

You're not trading him just to trade him. He's one of the Mets 3 OF prospects, so he's expendable and you're improving your rotation.

well, ur saying trade him b/c wang would be the best pitcher via the trade, even if u could do better for him at another point in time...would u trade him for eric milton, just b/c he's the best pitcher via the trade...that doesnt make any sense

Wang would be an upgrade in the Mets rotation and that's what they need.

I would not do that trade if I was the Mets. Wang is really not that good, and Humber is almost ready, isn't he? I think that the trade might end up being Melky for Heilmen and Mildredge.

Wang would still be an upgrade over a too old/too young rotation.
Melky for Milledge and Heilman would be a steal. Milledge has a higher ceiling in terms of being a power hitter.

no I mean with the SP canceling out, which I think they will do, making the trade very one-sided
