There is no rule on it. Yeah of course it is stupid and cheating, but it worked. And please, don't act like A-Rod's they only player in baseball that does that.

Willie Randolph said in his 20 years of playing the game, he's never seen it happened. None of his teammates have even backed him on this (and rightfully so). Obviously, this thing does not happen "2-3 times a week" as A-Rod claims. A-Rod's play was bush league in its highest form. He distracted an inexperienced 3B (he just came up from the minors). The guy is going to back off at any sound because the last thing he wants to happen is he hurt himself and/or McDonald. It's a cheap play and just because it's not against the rules does not make it any less sleazy.

You would think he would recognize the voice, guess not. But yeah its a cheap play, but it doesn't work all that often.

I wouldn't expect him. It was his first game in the majors.

Seaver41, did I see it waan't cheating? Did I say it happens 2-3 times a week? No. It's not a regular thing, but it does happen. Usually it isn't much of a distraction because infielders know whose voice is their teammates and what voices aren't their teammates. A-Rod cheated like the cheater he is and it worked. Was it right? No. But it worked.

Guillen is a hot-headed idiot who belittles his players for the smallest slip up. Bonds is the greatest dirt bag in the world. Lasorda cited a AAA game 50 years ago to back it up.

Yep 95% of the people including me don't like it. Plays .like this can ruin the game if it does become common. Good thing most of the time infielder will recognize their teammates voice. A-Rod just took advantage of a new player plus the loud crowd that the Yankees always bring to the ballpark both home and away games.

Its a cheap shot taking advantage of new players. Lots of little league baseballplayers does that.
