I say that it is a good idea to hold the 2008 all star game at yankee statium. All the proven players that have played there and the history thats in there. Yankees will be a solid team and to have there stadium in the all star game will bring solid profits to baseball. Every night Yankee Stadium is nearly sold out so with all the ticket prices and concession stand items they will make a huge profits and this is good for baseball. They will make more money than if they were to hold it in TB or FLA, or any small market teams.

I would love to be mad that the Yankees are getting the all-star game in 2008 instead of the Mets in both their last years. I love to say, Steinbrenner bought it. I would love to say anything like that. But, here’s why I can’t…
1) History…plain and simple…Yankee Stadium has been open since April 18th, 1923. Shea has been open since April 17th, 1964(not even close). 2) Shea holds 55,501; Yankee Stadium holds 57,545(better sales) 3) Yankee Stadium is a very nice stadium, Shea just all-around sucks.
In the end, it’s obvious that the Yanks deserve to hold the all-star game in the final year of their amazing ballpark

I don't think this was the greatest idea at all! Yes it was one of the oldest most famous ballparks ever, but, I think I'd MUCH rather see the NEW Yankee Stadium in 2009! I absolutely loved seeing the new stadium in Pittsburgh (PNC Park) this year, and I think seeing the new stadium have the all-star game would be a great way to show it off to the people of America. The new stadium will still incorporate the old designs, including the exterior of the orginal 1923 design and the 1970's renovations, so there won't be any history lost. I think they would have made even MORE money from playing in the new stadium.
Should have given them the all-star game in 2009.

Bad idea. This shows a great bias towards the Yankees. The Cardinals, Mets, Astros all did/will not get the all-star game in their final season with the stadium. Why do the Yankees suddenly get this "honor". This helps to promote an idea many baseball fans hate; the Yankees bias with the MLB, ESPN, etc. They'll get high revenues, big deal. They're marketing something in the highest marketed city in the country. New York doesn't need any more help. Want to help baseball? Put the all star game in a city that actually needs to promote baseball, such as Minnesota, Florida, etc. With the game at Yankee Stadium, there will even be more Yankee-biased voting in the all-star game then there already was. Help promote the game where it needs to be promoted. Put the big names in a place without them. Putting the All-Star game in Yankee Stadium is redundant.

I like having it at the big market team stadiums rather then a place like Kansas City as BrewersGm said. I think it was a good idea and not so good idea. I totally agree they should have saved next year's All Star game for the Yankees because it's going to be a very nice stadium. That's why I like having them in places like Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, because they have nice stadiums that bring in more fans. But I understand also that they are doing this for historical reasons. I also like it when they have them at historical places such as Yankee Stadium of course, Wrigley Field, and Fenway Park.

I was thinking the samething when diehardmetsfan said that the Marlins and Devil Rays shouldn't host it because they wouldn't make as much money. And anyways, the Dolphins are hosting the Super Bowl, so were experienced at hosting big events here, and everyone always goes.

I believe that it shoudl be played here in ny
Not only would this be great for the city that still needs money lost after 9/11 buit Yankee stadium hasnt held one since 1977. They are way overdue and the mets too, haventbeen holdin one.... although the city is always a hot topic in baseball especially becuz of steinbrenner and the rivalry they really are due and should have it.
Also, playin in small market citites isnt great.... Pittsburgh wasnt makin more money after the all-star game last year.. it didnt do anything after..... it jus brought some fun to the city and then it was over... This needs to happen in a big city,, and the fit it the mos perfect with it the last year be4 they get there new satdium
