[glow=red,2,300]Final Question[/glow]
Who do you think is the best team in baseball, not including your favorite team?
You can both respond at the same time.

I'm back.
On paper, I think the Detroit Tigers are the best team. Getting Sheffield to be their DH is a big improvement since Sheff is a great hitter. The rest of their lineup is top quality; the only poor hitters are Inge and Monroe who can hopefully improve. Their pitching is the best. I'm not sure who their 5th starter is but their 1-4 are very good. Rogers, Bonderman, Robertson, and Verlander all had a terrific season last year. Their 8th and 9th innings are set with Zumaya and Jones (he only blew 6 last year) and they have a handful of options for the 7th. They are probably the scariest team at the start of this season and it looks very promising for them. I think a World Series of Detroit vs New York would be quite exciting.

The best team is the Tigers right now. Every team in baseball had some sort of question going into the offseason, and this was the Tigers' - "Who will replace Jamie Walker as the lefty specialist?". Exactly. They are the most rounded team in the game. They have 3 aces at the top of the rotation in Kenny Rogers, Jeremy Bonderman, and Justin Verlander. They're #4 and #5 are Nate Robertson and Mike Maroth - 2 pitchers that would be near the top of the rotation on any other team. The backend of the bullpen is dominate, with Fernando Rodney (3.52 ERA) and Joel Zumaya (1.94 ERA) as setup guys, and veteran closer Todd Jones (37 saves, 6 blown saves) finishing the games.
SS Carlos Guillen is the most underrated player in the game today. Shortstops that have .900+ OPS are rare, and Guillen is one of those guys. Rookie CF Curtis Granderson proved to be the real deal - playing exceptional defense while hitting 19 HR's. Sean Casey came over in a deal with the Pirates near the deadline and help propel them to the World Series. I'd beg to differ Craig Monroe and Brandon Inge are poor hitters - they both hit 25+ homeruns last year, while Inge plays great defense at third.
While they only made one significant move this offseason - it should be enough to push them over the top. They acquired DH Gary Sheffield and his 30 HR swing, albeit for a couple pretty good pitching prospects. He's the big bat in the middle of the lineup they needed to win a world series title.
I'll take the Tigers to win the World Series in 2007.

Both Inge and Monroe have decreasing averages and OBP and increasing strike outs. Not good.

Still, their OPS is just under 800, that's pretty good.

Their OPS is high b/c of their home runs. Look at their OBP. The past 3 seasons their averages and OBP keep decreasing. The main goal of the batter is to get on base an avoid an out and they keep getting worse at it.

It's tied again.
Here's another final question:
Who is the best young star who has played at the major league level?(doublestix this means no Alex Gordon)
No order for this question either.

The best young superstar. Doesn't have to be a rookie. Come on guys, you know what I mean by young.
For example, Ryan Howard is a young superstar.
Alex Rodriguez is a superstar, but he's not young.
I think that's enough specification.
