first of all jason you are completely wrong about dotel the real reason he had a 10 ERA is cuz he was hurt most of the season and had a bad outing or two when he came back
as for the rest of the team i think the will be a little better than 70 wins maybe even 500
they have a good young infrastructure in place with players like gordon, teahan and butler there pitchers are pretty good young guys as well grienke still has the stuff to be an elit mlb pitcher and bannister was excellent in spring training and his first two starts with the mets last year b4 injury struck i also expect odalis perez and gil meche to anchor that rotation yes they have some weak areas but as we saw with the marlins people who you least expect can step up and do well

Look at it this way, the Royals are so close to reaching the next level. The days of the royals being like the 1980 Honda Civic of the league will soon be over as coming up in the ranks the royals have power! Something they have lacked for so long! They are a durable team that has gotten better in the last few years but still lack the proven assets it takes to make a winner. Even with the signing of Gil Meche to the big contract I dont think it will be enough to force the Royals into playoff contention for the 07 season, especially with the fine tuned "powers that be" ahead of them in the Tigers, Sox and Twins. That being said the Royals will make a move this year, not in the standings, not in the front office, but on the playing field. With the chance of finally getting highly touted 3B prospect Alex Gordon to the next level. This will pay a big dividend in the future for the Royals franchise. Having him and a few other rookie starters in the rotation will pave the way to change in KC. This season will not be good but it will be a step in the right direction, I predict 75 wins by the Royals this year and with Gordon getting a shot at Major League Pitching i think next year you will see a better developed royals team with a bonofide power hitter in Gordon. That along with Ryan Shealy getting a full season in the majors i think the Royals will have a very very good hitting team - next year, possibly a wild card contender - not a last place pretender.

i think you overshot the wins a little there is no way the beat out the twins tigers or white sox (just to name a few) for a wild card spot

I think Matt Clement has seen better days, i dont expect him to be the dominate ace that the Sox wanted in him when they got him. I do believe though that his stuff is definatley good enough to get the job done(most times) especially with a team that has good run support. I dont expect him to win the cy young or be anywhere close in the voting but if healthy i do believe he will win 10-12 games for the sox this year but with a earned run average at or above 4.90, i guess it all depends how much run support he gets. He has always had good stuff but the problem i see with him (besides health) is that he always leaves alot of juicy fastballs where good enough hitters will take advantage of it much like Josh Towers of the blue jays. And if he continues to walk just as many batters as he strikes out then there will be alot of games were the Sox are going to have to pull out their 9th inning miracle rally just to get even.
prediction 11-14 with an ERA OF 5.15 (this is if he stays healthy for a complete season.
